My Annoyance of Sidney Crosby and NHL.com

If you were on nhl.com since Crosbitch announced that he was playing tonight, than you realize that the website has been exploding with Crosby all the time. It all culminated tonight with Sid Cam, not to mention the "Must see" highlights of Crosby that showed everything short of him having a nap.

First off, ok we get it, Sidney Crosby is a big name in the NHL, but not as many people as you would think give a fuck about Bettman's golden ticket as NHL.com would have you believe. However I provide this counterpoint to it. There are plenty of other young talents out there that don't get the attention this attention whore gets. Stamkos gets his 50th goal and you barely see anything about it on nhl.com. Ovechkin has been finding his game again, barely a peep on that, but Crosby comes back and all of the sudden every NHL employee that works on the website has to work overtime because Bettman wants to make sure we don't miss a millisecond of the crybaby returning.

Second, I watched part of the game tonight, mainly waiting for the return of Community from a hiatus and if you weren't aware of what was happening, you wouldn't know that the New York Rangers were the opponents because all they were talking about was the Pittsburgh Penguins. Even though I am not a fan of the Rangers, the fact that you didn't hear any mentions of any of their talent.

Finally for this blog, and on this topic, if they were to give half the attention they give Crosby to other stars in the league, you know how many stars would be well known. The promoting the NHL has done is a complete and udder fail, they spend so much time on a guy who comes off has a crybaby and a douche, not to mention that he really doesn't really want to promote unless it makes him money. I wouldn't promote him and go with guys who are willing and wanting to promote the game and show some of the leagues more colourful guys such as Paul Bissionette (BizNasty2point0).

That is all I have for tonight and I will be doing a podcast that will cover everything from sports to politics that I will be posting on here as well, so until the next time I post, keep your stick on the ice.

My Trade Deadline Blog

I have decided to do a little different blog today, I am going to go through all the trades as they happen and will give my thoughts for them.

Trade #1: Montreal trades Andrei Kosnitsyn to Nashville for 2013 2nd Rd. Pick and conditional draft pick originally traded in Hal Gill deal to Nashville

Winner: Montreal, but there is a big if. Even though I think Kosnitsyn will be good in Nashville, two draft picks for him is too much for me to think of it as a good deal for the Preds. However here is the big if. Pierre Gauthier is one of the worse GM's in the NHL who has been bailed out by a team I feel that has overachieved. Gauthier needs to be gone or else he will continue to screw up the Habs.

Trade #2: Detroit trades Mike Commodore to Tampa for a Conditional 7th Rd. Pick

Winner: Tampa. Even though Detroit has a great scouting team, not every one of their late draft picks is a steal. Tampa gets a player for pretty much peanuts so that is a good move on their part.

Trade #3: Minnesota acquires Tom Gilbert from Edmonton for Nick Schultz

Winner: Edmonton. Even though Gilbert has some ability, I feel that the Oilers got the better of this deal as I feel Schultz is a better player, simple as that.

Trade #4: Toronto trades Keith Aulie to Tampa for Carter Ashton

Winner: Tampa, but barely. This is a move where both teams get a deal for the future as both of these guys are young, but I feel Aulie will have a bigger impact than Ashton. I think Burke was hoping for more than this in a Top 6 forward as I am not sure Ashton is there yet.

Trade #5: Ottawa trades Brian Lee to Tampa for Matt Gilroy

Winner: Ottawa. The Sentors get a decent consistent defenceman and give up a guy who just hasn't been able to stay in the line up.

Trade #6: San Jose trades Jamie McGinn, Micheal Sgarbossa, and Mike Connolly to Colorado for T.J. Galiardi, Daniel Winnik, and a 7th Rd. Pick

Winner: San Jose. Seriously, who the fuck is the GM for the Avalanche? A monkey who can do simple math? San Jose should almost be arrested for rape considering the fact that they got to good players from the Av's and gives them a few youngsters I don't consider to have much upside.

Trade #7: Vancouver acquires Sami Pahlsson from Columbus for two 4th Rd. Picks

Winner: Vancouver. Considering the fact that the Canucks didn't give up anything on their roster, and the fact that Columbus is one of the worst drafting teams, it is easy to see who won this trade. Also, the Canucks get that hole filled at the #3 centre position

Trade #8: Winnipeg trades Johnny Oduya to Chicago for a 2013 2nd & 3rd round draft pick

Winner: Winnipeg. Chicago may think they are shoring up their defense I have seen from Oduya, they may have just caused more problems than he helps. All the Jets did in this trade was get rid of a liability and pick up a couple of picks which would have been more than I would be expecting for Oduya.

Trade #9: Islanders trade Brian Rolston and Mike Mottau to Boston for Yannick Riendeau and Marc Cantin

Winner: Boston. The Bruins get a couple of depth players for another attempt at the Stanley Cup and the the Islanders get unproven prospects, it wasn't very hard to see who won this one.

Trade #10: Buffalo trades Paul Gaustad and 4th Rd. Pick to Nashville for a 2012 1st Rd. Pick

Winner: Buffalo. Even though Gaustad was a hot commodity at the trade deadline, there is no way this guy is worth a first round draft pick. Great deal for Buffalo, decent deal for Nashville.

Trade #11: Boston trades Steve Kampfer to Minnesota for Greg Zanon

Winner: Minnesota. Kampfer is a prospect that I think has pretty good potential while the Bruins get another depth defenseman that I feel won't actually help.

Trade #12: Chicago trades John Scott to the Rangers for 2012 5th Rd. Pick

Winner: Draw. This is an AHL lifer for a guy that will probably end up an AHL lifer. Not much potential in Scott that would see him make the Rangers and lets face it, the Hawks aren't as good as everyone thought they were, especially drafting.

Trade #13: Canucks trade Sebastian Erixon to Anaheim for Andrew Gordon

Winner: Draw. For the Canucks, this is just insurance to have in the minors in case someone gets injured up front. For the ducks, this is picking up a bit of an older prospect but this seems more like a deal for a deals sake.

Trade #14: Anaheim trades Dale Mitchell to Toronto for Mark Fraser

Winner: Anaheim. Fraser I feel has more talent hence, Anaheim wins the trade.

Trade #15: Buffalo trades Marc-Andre Gragnani and Zach Kassian to Vancouver for Alex Sulzer and Cody Hodgson

Winner: Buffalo. Well this was a bit of a boneheaded move as far as I am concerned by the Canucks. Gragnani and Kassian are both young and Kassian will bring in the toughness factor that people felt was missing from the Canucks, but I think Hodgson was too high a price. Maybe good short time for Vancouver but over the long run I think Buffalo wins this hands down.

That is it for this blog, until next time, keep your stick on the ice.

Pre-Trade Deadline Thoughts, and My Tradecentre Drinking Game

The NHL trade deadline is coming up next Monday and since I don't work that night, I may be doing a Tradecentre drinking game (More on that later in the blog).

There are apparently a lot of big fish available for trade if the price is right, and that price is also steep.

The most prominent of these is Columbus star winger Rick Nash who has from what has been said is a very short list. Apparently the front runners are the Rangers and the Kings but I highly doubt that Nash will be moved by the deadline. If Nash is dealt, I see it happening at the entry draft.

Another Blue Jacket name that is out there is Jeff Carter who was thought to be the fix for the no names that have centered his line so far, he has failed miserably. It is never about getting the best available player, it is about getting the best possible fit, the guy may not have the name recognition, but that guy can bring a star to a new level.

Other names that seem to be out there quite a bit are in the names of Brandon Dubinsky of the NY Rangers, Mason Raymond and Cory Schneider of the Vancouver Canucks, and Paul Gaustad of the Buffalo Sabres. Out of these names the only one I see with a possibility of moving at the deadline is Paul Gaustad as contenders will be looking to add depth and he is a good face off man and is good defensively.

However, onto the thing that most people are probably reading this, I have created a drinking game for watching one of the multiple Tradecentre coverage that people will have for seeing what NHL teams will do in the last hours before the trade deadline.

Here are the times where taking a shot is necessary:

A trade happens: Shot
Every time the host tells you how much time is left before the trade deadline: Shot
Every time the word "Blockbuster" is said: Shot
If the Cancuks and Panthers make a trade: Double Shot
Every time the Maple Leafs goaltending comes up as a topic: If you are a Leafs fan, you may just want to finish the bottle, for the rest of us, shot
If someone actually says a team made a bad deal or came out on the short end of the stick: Shot
Every time Darren Dreger says "Sources say": Double shot
I am not sure if Pierre McGuire is going to be there, but if he is, every time you see him open his mouth: No shot, just plug your ears so you don't hear his stupidity

That is all for now, and if you come up with anymore things that you or I should have a shot for, add it in the comments below.

Bad Officiating Abounding and some other stuff

That is right I am back and I am full of piss and vinegar today as some stuff that has been happening over the last little while in hockey has just got my anger juices flowing (don't worry, no gamma radiation).

As the title for this blog says, Bad officiating is the first thing I am taking aim at. Shortly after my last blog, the Leafs and Penguins played each other in Pittsburgh and the Maple Leafs had a goal called back on that fucking toe in the crease call because there was no interference with the goalie, accidental or intentional.

Then another one a couple days later that involved the NY Rangers who had a goal called back against the Devils with 3.5 seconds left as Gaborik was shoved into Brodeur and the puck went in and was called back due to interference. I am definitely not a Rangers fan but I can honestly say that the Rangers got screwed on this one.

There have been some others, but these are the two that have been really bothering me.

Now onto the anonymous cowards that are the Sports Illustrated *cough* player *cough* polls.

Basically, what these are, are opinion polls of hockey players who are asked questions of who they think are overrated or the easiest to intimidate (these have been the one's that have been shown in SI). I honestly think that if they are actually using NHL players, which I am having some skepticism about than these guys should actually have their balls to have their names posted. Also the legitimacy of these polls I have to question since it seems like their is an anti-Toronto and anti-Canucks vibe to them which makes me think that it is either bitterness or just hear say of what they have heard about people.

Now onto the last bit for this blog.

Detroit is on an incredible streak at home. However, I would not put my money in them as much if they continue to have such dominance at home. Now you may be asking why and I will give you my reason. When a team has dominance or has a roll like this, I find that when they face controversy when that streak is ended, can have a ton of negative effects and the team doesn't know how to respond and it just kills them.

That is it for this one, until next time keep your stick on the ice.

Near End of January Post

It has been a couple weeks since I last posted and there has been a lot of stuff that has happened in the NHL that I want to get to.

First off, the whole Brad Marchand low bridge situation. Honestly, I think Shanahan got this one right as Marchand got 5 games for it. Now onto stuff with it that has made me lose a ton of respect for the Bruins coaching and management. After the game, there was a ton of stuff said by both sides but the thing that bothered me was Bruins management defending the Marchand hit as self defense, if that was self defense, than I guess I can go up to someone and punch them in the face just for looking at me the wrong way.

Now onto another thing involving the Bruins with Tim Thomas refusing to go to the White House as a part of the Stanley Cup Champions as a protest of how politics is being done. It's his right whether you like it or not but I think in the future it will be something he will regret not going to.

Now onto the All-Star game. I actually like the way it played out this year where there are some definite rivalries and may actually get the crowd into the game even if it is another no contact allowed game which probably will be coming shortly to the NHL so that Bettman can continue to push his #1 ball licker in Sidney Crosby.

The only thing that I would like to see changed to the All-Star fantasy draft is that defenseman can go last so that the car doesn't always go to a forward as San Jose Shark, Logan Couture was the last pick this and receiver of the new car and $20,000 to a charity of his choice. I also think they should give something to the first overall pick in it as it would show respect like Chara did when he picked Pavel Datsyuk first, I think he should get something, but it is not up to me.

Also with the season at the All-Star break, I am going to narrow down who I think are the fron runners for the awards and who I see as teams that can make legitimate runs for the cup.

Hart Trophy

Right now I see this as the most wide open although most seem to be staying with in the NBC 7 who have a vote in this matter as it seems to be coming down between Claude Giroux and Evgeny Malkin. I give a little outside chance to one of the Sedin's due to the fact that they are the two reigning Art Ross trophy winners but I think the East Coast voters are tired of the West Coast players getting all the attention.

Norris Trophy

This is a list of the usual suspects as the list really consists of Nicklas Lidstrom, Zdeno Chara, and Shea Weber being front and centre on most lists with a little attention being seen in Alex Edler and Erik Karlsson getting some looks as well.

Calder Trophy

If Ryan Nugent-Hopkins hadn't got injured, this would be a runaway right now, however he did and the race is tight. New Jersey forward Adam Henrique and Philadelphia forward Matt Read have been getting most of the attention in top 6 minutes but I think the second best rookie behind RNH is Cody Hodgson in Vancouver who is close to the top in points among rookies and getting fr less playing time than the other players mentioned.

Jack Adams

Well if injuries to star players is going to determine who gets this again, than Dan Bylsma is a shoe in to win as Crosbitch, oops Crosby is injured and has only played 8 games this season. I personally think that Paul MacLean in Ottawa right now is the #1 choice for the award.

Selke

Well I don't even know why we are bringing this up, we already know that it is going to be Datsyuk.

Stanley Cup Contenders

The way the teams are listed are the likelihood that I believe they will be in the finals representing their Conference that have a realistic shot of making the finals.

Eastern Conference

Boston Bruins
NY Rangers
Philadelphia

Western Conference

Vancouver Canucks
Detroit Red Wings
Chicago Blackhawks
Nashville Predators

That is all I have for now and let us enjoy the unofficial start to the second half of the season.

This Should Be Interesting

The rematch of the Stanley Cup finals was today in Boston and let's just say, Shanahan is just going to be busy from this game. From the question of Lucic stepping off the bench (He was half way in the door and then jumped into the fray), to Brad Marchand low-bridging Sami Salo, it has become obvious who the most hated team in hockey should be, and it is not the team located on the West coast.

Here is some of the stuff that happened from the game

Here is the 1st Period line brawl

And here is Brad Marchand's low bridge of Salo

I am also looking for the video for Dale Weise getting a penalty for not being given a green light to fight from Vigneault, when Thornton dropped his gloves off a faceoff.

There is also the big time blown non icing call on the Bruins that ended in a goal for the Bruins.

Overall, I don't know if they will or won't punish Lucic (it is a definite gray area with the one foot on ice, one foot off), but Marchand better get the book thrown at him. Also for those dumb ass morons saying that all Marchand did was what Ballard or Hamhuis does, get in line so I can high five you in the face, with a chair, and then a bat. Ballard of Hamhuis hip checks don't come when a guy is going to make shoulder to shoulder contact who doesn't have the puck, they also usually try to mainly just take a guy out of the play without injury.

Oh also, this game was at 10 am PT, could you imagine if this had been in prime time and on NBC and CBC, this could have help expand the game big time.

As I had in my last post, with the comments released by Donald Fehr about the NHLPA's refusal of the new NHL realignment. Personally, I think that Fehr raises some good points but I am concerned where this could go due to the amount of stupidity this could start due to the fact that the CBA is up at the end of the year.

That is all I have for now, until next time keep your stick on the ice.

More on the NHLPA denial of new Realignment

I have found the official statement released by the NHLPA on the denial for realignment.

Toronto (January 6, 2012) – National Hockey League Players' Association (NHLPA) Executive Director Don Fehr issued the following statement this evening regarding the League’s realignment proposal:

“On the evening of December 5, 2011, the NHL informed the NHLPA that they proposed to put in place a four-conference format beginning with the 2012-13 season. As realignment affects Players’ terms and conditions of employment, the CBA requires the League to obtain the NHLPA’s consent before implementation. Over the last month, we have had several discussions with the League and extensive dialogue with Players, most recently on an Executive Board conference call on January 1. Two substantial Player concerns emerged: (1) whether the new structure would result in increased and more onerous travel; and (2) the disparity in chances of making the playoffs between the smaller and larger divisions.

In order to evaluate the effect on travel of the proposed new structure, we requested a draft or sample 2012-13 schedule, showing travel per team. We were advised it was not possible for the League to do that. We also suggested reaching an agreement on scheduling conditions to somewhat alleviate Player travel concerns (e.g., the scheduling of more back-to-back games, more difficult and lengthier road trips, number of border crossings, etc.), but the League did not want to enter into such a dialogue. The travel estimation data we received from the League indicates that many of the current Pacific and Central teams, that have demanding travel schedules under the current format, could see their travel become even more difficult. On the playoff qualification matter, we suggested discussing ways to eliminate the inherent differences in the proposed realignment, but the League was not willing to do so.

The League set a deadline of January 6, 2012 for the NHLPA to provide its consent to the NHL’s proposal. Players’ questions about travel and concerns about the playoff format have not been sufficiently addressed; as such, we are not able to provide our consent to the proposal at this time. We continue to be ready and willing to have further discussions should the League be willing to do so.”

I will have more on this later, however I have work shortly so keep your stick on the ice.

World Junior Recap, NHLPA denies realignment

Well the World Juniors wrapped up yesterday with a one against the world that ended up with Senators prospect Mika Zijanebad scored for Sweden in overtime on Sweden's 58th shot to win the game 1-0.

Here is the winner

For the first two periods of the game, this was literally a game of keep away as the shots were 39-4 for Sweden after two periods and Sweden had fifty shots after regulation. This probably will replace Roberto Luongo's gold medal game against the Russians in 1999 as the best goalie performance in a loss at this tournament as Saskatoon Blade goalie Andrei Makarov was the only reason the game didn't end in regulation.

Now onto some other stuff. Canada continued at least one streak at this tournament as they grabbed the bronze and received a medal for the 14th consecutive year with a 4-0 win over Finland. However there was questions whether we need an overhaul of the Canadian system in some newspapers. Excuse me, I need to go smash someone's brain in for thinking such a stupid thing. OK, I'm back. There are some people out there that think Canada is the only nation that can play hockey at a high level. Umm, I am not sure what to tell these idiots but there are other countries that have our similar climate and love the sport just as much and have plenty of talent. There is no other nation that can boast a 14 year medal streak at the World Juniors, no overhaul necessary.

Now onto something that is a little baffling for me. The NHL had approved a realignment system for the following season. However, that has been shot down by the NHLPA.

Here is the statement that was released on NHL.com

The National Hockey League announced today that it will not move forward with implementation of the Realignment Plan and modified Playoff Format recently approved by the NHL Board of Governors for the 2012-13 NHL season because the NHLPA has refused to provide its consent.

"It is unfortunate that the NHLPA has unreasonably refused to approve a Plan that an overwhelming majority of our Clubs voted to support, and that has received such widespread support from our fans and other members of the hockey community, including Players," said NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly. "We have now spent the better part of four weeks attempting to satisfy the NHLPA’s purported concerns with the Plan with no success. Because we have already been forced to delay, and as a result are already late in beginning the process of preparing next season’s schedule, we have no choice but to abandon our intention to implement the Realignment Plan and modified Playoff Format for next season."

"We believe the Union acted unreasonably in violation of the League’s rights. We intend to evaluate all of our available legal options and to pursue adequate remedies, as appropriate."

As a result of the League’s decision today, the NHL will maintain its current alignment and Playoff Format for the 2012-13 season.

What I take from this is that the NHLPA did not like not having a say in this to begin with, and the fact that the playoff format had yet to be formatted and the fact that the Top 8 got in with the best records and a team that could be truly terrible that finished fourth in the new conferences gets in.

This was taken from SunGarrioch on Twitter on the situation

Sources say NHLPA doesn't like increased travel and the unbalanced conferences. Statement from union soon. Will be interesting. #NHL

I think the team that is really pooched in this is the Winnipeg Jets. They only way they are considered Southeast division team is if the NHL was completely based on where they are in Manitoba. They still get the extra games versus as is with some of the bigger names in the NHL with Ovechkin and the Capitals and Crosby (If healthy) and the Penguins.

But overall, this is what I really think happened. Eastern based team players who hate time zone travel knew that they were going to have to play 13 games out of their time zone (Detroit and Columbus are in ETZ) and probably most Western Conference teams were pissed off that they still had to play Detroit so often (Well, some teams). I personally thought the realignment for the most part was good as teams were properly aligned due to where they were time zone wise. I really don't know what to expect now but I hope there isn't another lockout.

That is all I have for now, until next time, keep your stick on the ice.

All-Star Game votes, Barch Suspension, Burke's rant, and more

The NHL All-Star Game votes have been tallied, and I am happier this year than I was with them last year. For starters, they just didn't choose guys that were probably going to go anyways because they were all-stars, the chose the home town players who may not be having a good season but they knew it would be special for them.

The players that were selected were Boston goaltender Tim Thomas, Maple Leafs defenceman Dion Phaneuf, and then Four Ottawa Senators in defenceman Erik Karlsson, and all three forwards with Daniel Alfredsson, Jason Spezza, and Milan Michalek who had a great surge to get pushed past Leafs forward Phil Kessel in the last week.

The only one I wish that was different was the goalie as Thomas would probably be selected to go in any case as he is having a great season and I personally like to have seen a guy like James Reimer or Antti Niemi who has solid numbers butdoesn't get the exposure to get the votes.

The only guys i can say for sure that will be going to the All-Star Game that didn't get voted in are the Sedin twins, Giroux, Stamkos, Kessel and Toews.

Now onto something I touched on in my last blog with Krys Barch and his racial slur towards PK Subban. Barch admitted to saying it but he says it was in a joke, if you are going to tell a joke to the opposing team like that, make sure he is the only one who hears it, not so a linesman can hear you. Basically his one game suspension is for being an idiot.

If you have yet to hear Brian Burke's latest remarks, he had a press conference interview about placing tough guy Colton Orr on waivers. He said he had to do this move because of the way things are heading in the NHL and he is not a fan of it with players who are rats not having to stand up for themselves and not being willing to fight. For what was said in the sound clip showed on TSN, I would say I agree with everything that the GM said as I think the way the NHL is going with some of the stuff is wrong.

Also, you would have to wonder if guys like Brian Burke and Don Cherry ran the league, how much better off the play on the ice would be because you actually know where everything stands and you wouldn't have the "rats" doing what they are doing. (Sidenote: If I can find the rant or press conference so that I can post it to this blog)

Now onto some other stuff that has come up. It looked like Oilers super rookie, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins was going to run away with the Calder Trophy for rookie of the year but is now injured. Even though there are some that are some what close to him in points, the only one I think that can mount a reasonable challenge to him for it is Canucks forward Cody Hodgson. Yes, there are other players that are making an impact as rookies like Adam Henrique but those guys are getting much more ice time than Hodgson and Hodgson also plays on a third line and is currently 5th in points. However, if RNH comes back and dominates, he will probably run away with the votes.

Anaheim Ducks GM, Bob Murray, has made a bit of noise by saying the only untouchables on his team are currently Saku Koivu and Teemu Selanne. Personally, I just think this is a way to try and spark the underachieving stars of this team in the Ducks big line of Corey Perry, Ryan Getzlaf, and Bobby Ryan. If it is meant to say, "Hey, if you gives us a good enough offer, you can actually have one of these guys.", then he is going to have some busy phone lines. If they are to trade any of those three, I would have to parrot what lots of the "experts" are saying in that if one does move it will be Bobby Ryan.

The last thing I would like to speak on is Lars Eller spectacular 4 goal game. The only goal he scored that wasn't highlight worthy. That has to be one of the best games I have seen in recent history and hopefully there is a lot more ahead for him.

Until next time, keep your stick on the ice.

The Winter Classic and some other recent stuff

*This took me a couple days to complete due to being sick, so some of this stuff may seem weird for dates on here*

Well, we are into a new calendar year and the NHL Winter Classic was yesterday and all I can say is, they really need to expand the teams in it. Even though I did enjoy the alumni game which featured many big names including Eric Lindros and John LeClair, this has got to be taken to more markets than the NBC 7 and Buffalo, who probably only got the game because they were hosting Gary Bettman ball sucker Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Even though there was some drama and a good story in the game, especially with the penalty shot late, I really couldn't care what happened in the game due to the fact that I really don't cheer for either of these teams (Although I have become a fan of Ilya Bryzgalov through his comments and open demeanour).

The way it is sounding right now is that another NBC 7 team will be hosting it next year in the Detroit Red Wings, the one thing that is interesting about this one, is that if the fans had their choice and it makes very good sense from a money standpoint is against the Toronto Maple Leafs. I honestly think that this would be the best one as they are close geographically, and if they get it into the football stadium in Detroit which seats about 100,000 and if the average ticket is $100, that is a $10M gate for one game and if the NHL isn't actually trying to make more money for all the teams, then I don't know what the hell they are doing.

The next piece I would like to speak on is a slimy piece of shit, as he will now be known to me in Pierre Gauthier. For those of you who are not aware, Gauthier on Saturday apologized to the media on Saturday for not hiring a french speaking coach. First off, way to throw the coach under the bus, second of all, I thought that the hiring of Randy Cunneyworth was because you thought he was going to give you the best chance to win. This is probably the most classless move I have ever seen when it comes to professional sports management throwing a guy under the bus because a guy is not bilingual. Personally, if I were Randy Cunneyworth I would asked to be bought out of my contract because this was absolutely tasteless and showed no respect for Cunneyworth.

If you are unaware, the sheriff of the NHL, Brendan Shanahan has been dispatching justice again and the punishments have been severe this time. Rene Bourque has been suspended 5 games for an elbow on Nicklas Backstrom of the Washington Capitals. Also, Dan Carcillo of the Chicago Blackhawks has been suspended indefinitely for a nasty hit on Tom Gilbert, and since they still suspend heavier for repeat offenders, I see Carcillo, with the NHL looking to make a severe statement trying to get back into the good graces of fans that actually know hockey, I see around 15 games coming, and the ironic thing is Carcillo may be out even longer as when he delivered the hit Gibert then fell down on Carcillo's leg.

There also is the matter for the NHL to deal with about an apparent racial slur by Krys Barch of the Florida Panthers towards PK Subban of the Montreal Canadiens. Unlike other times where there it has been a player accusing another player, this time a linesman heard it and it is probably the reason why this is taking place. I know a lot of stuff gets said but players should know better than to use racial slurs, no matter how heated it gets.

That is all for right now, until next time, keep your stick on the ice.
