On the last Saturday of the regular season or the NHL, I watched a rare event. No, not a well officiated game. The Boston Bruins on one penalty kill against the Carolina Hurricanes scored three short handed goals. It was a penalty to Matt Hunwick for hooking 18 seconds left in the first period. The Bruins started the second period short handed and started with a flurry.
Daniel Paille scored 32 seconds in to the second period. Blake Wheeler scored 1:21 in and Steve Begin scored 15 seconds later. To tell you how rare this is, I can not recall off the top of my head when I have seen three short handed goals scored on one PK, hell, I can barely do this on NHL 10.
So for Hurricanes fans, if you are wondering why your team missed the playoffs, ask yourselves, "How the hell a team can give up three short handed goals on one PK.".
And with the way it looks, congratulations are in order for the Boston Bruins making the playoffs.
